Thanks DC!

Valhallahan

"For the long term health of the industry, we are willing to take a financial risk so that readers who love our medium do not abandon the art form."

DC Comics apparently prove they're the bigger man by putting their cover prices back down to $2.99. Good show, chaps. I hate to say it, having been raised a True Believer, but the Distinguished Competitor is getting much more of Valhallahan’s sterling these days.

On the Pulse!

Action Ash
Well first up, it seems that Scott Snyder, scribe of American Vampire, will be starting a run on Detective Comics in November. The bad guys will be waiting for that one, Mr Snyder.

Marvel have released previews for the first two issues of their new superhero crossover epic, Chaos War. Koi Pham is on scribble duty and it is looking pretty nifty. For instance, check out this awesome depiction of Galactus. Click on it to link to the preview of Chaos War #2.

Last but not least: Aint it typical, that now I've decided to give up on Secret Avengers they go and put Shang Chi in the line up. That's right folks, issue 6 will see the fist throwing, fast kicking chinaman back in action as the new addition to the roster. I'm thinking about picking it up again solely for this reason.

That's it for now, see you in the funny pages. \m/

"Stronger than a whale he can swim anywhere,
he can breath underwater and go flying through the air"

That's right suck bags.
Hark, for the Sub-Mariner is back with his own ongoing series this August. It's penned by Stuart Moore and scribbled by Ariel Olivetti with a cover by Jae Lee and a variant by Quesada himself.

I, a fan of the ankle winged aqua king, am quite excited!
Unfortunately it's going to be tied up with the X-Men vampire shit that's coming our way, which is a bit of a bummer. I don't think Namor works with the X-Men, especially with the tenuous link that is the "Atlanteans are mutants too" idea.
Hopefully after the Vampire thing has run it's course Namor will get to go his own way, for incredible underwater adventures and tales of pomp and pageantry in the vein of Stan Lee's version of the character. Alas, I do not think this will come true, however it could still be good.

Silver age artist Neil Adams is back with the Bat. He is on art and writing duties (and inks on issues #1 and #2) for Batman Odyssey, a six issue limited series which starts this July. No sign of Frank Miller though, who was said to be part of this project when it was announced way back in '07. No problemo, I'm sure Adams has got it down. Should be good, look out for it people!

I will now divulge to you the current, up to date, finger on the pulse comic book information that I have become aware of.

First up: There is a Flash movie in the works, with Geoff Johns as co-producer and screenwriter. With Johns on board it could be amazing. Lets just hope it doesn't get stuck in development hell.

Also Green Lantern will be getting his own animated series to be shown on Cartoon Network. If it's half as good as JL Unlimited or his own animated movie First Flight, it will be awesome.

Firestar to Join the Young Allies. Anyone care?

With the release of X-Men #1, July 8 has been labelled X-Men Day by Marvel. How are they going to celebrate, you ask? By releasing a shit load of variant covers for people to spend money on. The most interesting of these is the Blank variant that you can use to draw your own cover. I like the idea but on the other hand it's just lazy. Next they'll be getting us to write our own stories and draw our own double page splash panels of epic battles between super powered peeps.
